Sept 5th International Day of Charity

The International Day of Charity

On September 5th this day occurs each year and is said to by chosen as it was the day Mother Theresa died, as she was known for her work with people that was where charity came in. In 2011 the Hungarian Civil Society began the day with the assistance of the Hungarian government. In 2012 the United Nations General Assembly then made the day official. So, what might be included is helping charities or people in need but I also include friends and family due to a saying I remember from childhood which was charity begins at home.

The UN encourages countries, organisations, or citizens to contribute in whatever way they can by means of contributions, volunteering, educating or starting awareness raising activities. If you are based in a city you may find local groups that could use your support or help to raise awareness of something important to you. For example, I help Diabetic organisations because I’ve been diabetic since age 1 so understand the support others have given helped my life today. People can contribute in many different ways.

The reason I used a picture with friends, family and a charity I assist is because I help each and also enjoy the act of helping. Sometimes the act of helping can be good for ones well being because you can begin to see how your contributions or kindness can help others which then reflects positively on one’s spirit. Many religions also have their own ideas about kindness or contributions to help others. As a community we can achieve a lot by the acts we do. Remember if your reading this after September 5th then an act of kindness or generosity can happen on any day.
